SWFMD urges year-round water conservation as aquifer levels fall below normal

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – The Southwest Florida Water Management District is urging year-round water conservation after its February water resources update showed below-normal aquifer levels across much of its service area.

“Water levels may rise and fall, but our water resources remain limited,” the district said.

As of Feb. 28, aquifer levels were below normal in two of the district’s three regions. The north region recorded levels at the 18th percentile, and the south region, which includes Manatee and Sarasota counties, recorded levels at the 14th percentile.
