Pinellas teacher now home after lightning strike in Peru leaves him paralyzed

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A Pinellas County teacher is focusing on gratitude after a lightning strike during a Thanksgiving trip to Peru nearly cost him his life.

James Fernandez, an eighth-grade science teacher at Palm Harbor Middle School, is now home in Clearwater after nearly four months of medical care in Peru and the United States.
