ST. PETE BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) — Protestors gathered outside the TradeWinds Resort on Saturday to protest a music festival set to take place on the beach, saying the three-day festival could have a lasting impact on marine life.
The Country Thunder Music Festival is slated for May 8-10 on St. Pete Beach, which protestors say coincides with sea turtle and seabird nesting seasons.
“We want to protect them,” said Maria Erickson, who was at the protest. “We want to see the wildlife here thrive – as well as the businesses, of course. We all want a strong economy, but I think we can do both.”…
