Apopka Driver Arrested After High-Speed Highway Collision Maims Plant City Motorcyclist

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A 22-year-old Apopka man is behind bars following a chaotic chain of events on I-4 in Hillsborough County that left a local motorcyclist with life-altering injuries.

The Florida Highway Patrol reported that the incident unfolded Saturday evening, April 4, around 7:20 PM, directly in front of a marked patrol unit.

According to investigators, an FHP trooper was traveling westbound near the 16.5-mile marker when two vehicles roared past at extreme speeds. The lead car, a silver Toyota Camry, was clocked at nearly 100 MPH as it swerved around a motorcyclist in the outside lane and cut sharply in front of the trooper’s cruiser…
