‘Legends Never Die 5K’ in Madeira Beach raises money for first responder, military mental health

MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) — The Legends Never Die 5K drew hundreds of runners to the beach Sunday to raise funding and awareness for mental health issues affecting first responders and the military.

“Back in the day when I first started, it was, ‘Suck it up, buttercup, don’t talk about anything, you’ll be fine, just go to the next call,’” Madeira Beach Fire Department Chief Clint Belk said. “Well, we’re losing too many of our brothers and sisters to this, and this has got to stop.”

The 5k is in its fifth year, and organizers say it continues to grow…
