Oregon’s most Latino city removes Flock cameras after audit confirms immigration agencies accessed data

The city of Woodburn has removed its Flock Safety cameras, a video surveillance tool that scans and catalogs license plate data, according to city spokesperson Maricela Guerrero.

The decision comes months after some Woodburn residents expressed fears that the information collected from the cameras would be used to arrest immigrants or invade people’s privacy.

As the city with the highest Latino population in Oregon, where foreign-born people make up 31% of residents, Woodburn has been a target of nationwide immigration crackdowns.
