STAYTON, Ore. — A fast-moving grass and brush fire burned about 20 acres Monday evening near Stayton, destroying three outbuildings and threatening about a dozen homes, according to the Stayton Fire District.
The district said it responded at 5:45 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3, to the fire. Investigators determined the cause was a tree limb that fell on power lines and started a field on fire. The fire quickly grew due to wind and low relative humidity.
