Nick’s Italian Cafe, a defining Oregon wine country restaurant for nearly half a century, has closed two years after new owners mounted a comeback, the McMinnville restaurant announced on social media.
The first sign of trouble came after a safety inspection found that Nick’s aging ventilation hood was “non-compliant,” the News-Register reported in June. But the temporary closure turned out to be more permanent.
“We would like to give a special thank you to our patrons and the community of McMinnville for supporting us,” the restaurant wrote at the end of July. “Unfortunately we have to close the doors for good due to the high repair costs.”…
