CORVALLIS — Oregon State maintains its quarterback competition remains a three-man battle following its first scrimmage of fall camp.
Maalik Murphy threw a touchdown and Brady Jones threw a pick six during Saturday’s scrimmage, though those were hardly the only notable passes. Murphy, Jones and Braden Atkinson are still splitting reps as the Beavers near the midpoint of preseason practice.
“It’s a really tight race,” OSU coach JaMarcus Shephard said following Monday’s practice. “It is truly a three-man race and it could be anybody’s opportunity. It’s a good thing; they’re all getting better because of it. … I’m looking forward to seeing who emerges over this next week and a half.”…
