Rain showers are expected across the Willamette Valley and Umpqua Basin tonight as a storm system continues to move through our region. Temperatures will remain well below seasonal averages this weekend, with lows tonight dipping into the mid-50s.
Showers will linger into Sunday, particularly over the higher terrain of the Cascade Range, before becoming more scattered by Sunday afternoon. Interior valleys should trend mostly dry by late Sunday. There is also a chance for a few thunderstorms from mid-afternoon through this evening, bringing potential for occasional lightning, brief heavy rain, and locally erratic wind gusts, along with the possibility of cold-core funnel clouds.
Conditions begin to change early next week as the upper low shifts eastward and high pressure builds. Temperatures will steadily recover, reaching the low to mid-70s across the Willamette Valley by Tuesday.
