INDEPENDENCE, Ore. (KPTV) — As the city of Independence navigates a financial crisis, it has sold the building that houses the town’s Heritage Museum, about a month after the museum indefinitely closed its doors.
“The recent sale of the museum building is heartbreaking to everyone on the Heritage Museum Society, and it should be to the community as well,” said Jim Humphreys, former president of the Independence Historical Museum Society (HMS), in a statement.
“A significant amount of work and effort over many years went into creating a local museum that was thoughtfully laid, preserved the history of the community, and was well received by the community and visitors. The Independence Heritage Museum did just that,” he concluded…
