Neighbors in Salem Voicing Frustration Over Shelter Expansion They Say Leaves People Un-Monitored

SALEM, OR – Neighbors in Northeast Salem say children who walk to school and shoppers at a local grocery store are at risk because of a recent shelter expansion.

A number of people told Salem city councilors this week, staff at the Church At The Park – Village of Hope shelter turn a blind eye to what residents are doing just outside its doors. Church at the Park is a micro-shelter nonprofit in Salem, which expanded to a space at Center Street Northeast in mid-July.
