No. 3 Colorado falls in Corvallis to No. 25 Oregon State 68-62

The third-ranked Colorado Buffaloes couldn’t find a way to erase a late deficit in the fourth quarter, falling to No. 25 Oregon State 68-62 on Friday night.

The Buffs (16-3, 6-2 Pac-12) tried to pull themselves back into the game in the final minutes. However, the Beavers (16-3, 5-3 Pac-12) earned it with a solid effort from the free throw line. Oregon State has been the Pac-12 team with a lot to prove after starting the season with 12 straight wins. They’ve gone 4-3 since with all their losses to top ten teams.

Jaylyn Sherrod led all scorers with 19 points before fouling out. She was one of three players in double figures on a miserable night shooting for the Buffs. Frida Formann finished with 13 points and Aaronette Vonleh added 12. By far the worst effort of the season for JR Payne’s squad, who went 19-for-48 (39.6%) from the field, including 3-for-11 (27.3%) from beyond the arc.

Oregon State also had three players in double figures. They had a combined 46 points from Donovyn Hunter, Talia Von Oelhoffen, and AJ Marotte. As a whole, the Beavers shot 48.1 percent from the field and dominated in the paint against the Buffs.
