Woodburn mental-health entity expands

WOODBURN — OYEN Emotional Wellness Center recently announced a partnership with Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center , a collaboration that entails OYEN offering on-site therapists at VGMHC’s School-Based Health Center (SBHC) and Primary Care Clinics for mental health services.

The collaboration is effective as of Monday, Jan. 22.

OYEN sources said the initiative aims to meet the pressing need for behavioral health services in areas with insufficient mental health resources.

OYEN’s reach is growing beyond the new partnership.

“We will be opening our Salem clinic on February 1st, and we are currently working with five school districts,” OYEN CEO Melinda Avila enthused.

OYEN, a bilingual and bicultural health clinic in Woodburn, provides an array of mental health services, while Virginia Garcia, a non-profit federally qualified community health center, offers primary health care in Washington and Yamhill counties. OYEN will deploy two therapists to Virginia Garcia’s primary care clinics, one in Beaverton and the other in Cornelius, and one therapist to their SBHC within the Beaverton School District.
