Salem police and feds arrest man, seize 4 guns and drugs

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — A 32-year-old Salem man was arrested Friday morning by the Salem Police Department, assisted by federal law enforcement agents, when a search warrant was executed at a home, police said.

Guns and drugs were also seized by officers, with Tyler Joel Alvis being arrested for four counts of felon in possession of a firearm and a parole violation warrant that was outstanding. Alvis is being lodged at the Marion County Jail and will be arranged Monday, Salem PD said in a release.

During the arrest and search, which unfolded at 7 a.m. at the home in the 5000 block of Coloma Court Southeast, Salem PD’s Strategic Investigations Unit detectives were assisted by agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Together, the team seized four weapons — two AR-style rifles and two handguns — as well as a small amount of what is suspected to be fentanyl and related paraphernalia, officials said.
