Share the Love: Families chosen, fundraising gets rolling

Student leaders at Molalla High School made it official Feb. 1, they named the two recipients of this year’s Share the Love fundraising campaign.

During an assembly Thursday morning, the two families that will receive this year’s financial assistance were named – the Rose and Stilinger family.

Now the fundraisers throughout Molalla will begin in earnest as the program hopes to raise a hefty amount to split between the two families. Last year’s STL program raised about $130,000.

Rose Family

The Rose Family is one of two recipients from Share the Love this year.

After months of doctors’ appointments, the family received the heartbreaking news that three of their four children have a fatal illness – Niemann Pick Disease Type C. Niemann Pick Disease is a genetic disorder that affects the brain, nerves, liver, spleen, and even lungs. It is often called childhood Alzheimer’s.

The family is attempting to make as many memories as it can before it’s too late. There is no cure for this disease and treatment is supportive. This supportive treatment costs thousands of dollars and is not covered by insurance.
