CCC’s Spring Concert Series promises a broad range of genres

The Chehalem Cultural Center’s upcoming Spring Concert Series promises an eclectic blend of genres sure to satisfy even the most critical musical consumer.

The series begins March 8 with Stumptown Swing, continues April 12 with Chelsea Janzen Williams and Leigh Brown, and wraps up May 10 with Seffarine.

Performances are set to begin at 7 p.m., with the doors opening at 6:30 p.m. in the grand ballroom at the cultural center, 415 E. Sheridan St. in Newberg. The concerts will run 60 to 75 minutes, organizers said in promotional materials, with a short intermission.

Stumptown Swing is billed on the CCC website as performing “a set of hot, cool and sultry classics, featuring swinging groove and gorgeous acoustic instruments played with intelligence and passion by four master of their craft.”

The quartet is named after the hometown of its members, where it has made its name playing at a variety of swing dance clubs and has contributed to Portland’s recent swing dance revival. The band consists of Tim Connell on mandolin and vocals, Mike Burdette playing guitar, pianist Ben Blechman and Keith Brush on upright bass.
