Lebanon firefighters battle two-alarm blaze

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — A two-alarm house fire in Lebanon prompted response from firefighters Friday afternoon.

Crews from the Lebanon Fire District responded to a report of the fire located in the 3100 block of Old Santiam Highway. Officials who first arrived on scene say the fire was coming out of a second story window. Crews soon began to their attempt to extinguish the blaze.

As more firefighters arrived, they upgraded the fire to two-alarm and brought on additional crews from Albany and Sweet Home.

Crews were quickly able to gain access into the living room where they found the fire blazing from the staircase to the half story above, officials say.

But crews soon found an obstacle in the form of live wires coming from the solar panels on the roof. However, they were able to safely secure power from the panels until Pacific Power arrived to cut the lines, officials say.
