Corvallis has been awarded a Gold-level Bicycle Friendly Community status by the League of American Bicyclists. This is an annual honor that Corvallis has received for over 20 years, making it one of only 34 communities nationwide with this status. The award recognizes the city’s efforts to provide transportation and recreational resources for all residents, promoting healthier and more sustainable transport options.

The Bicycle Friendly America program by the League of American Bicyclists assesses how communities improve biking conditions. In Corvallis, the Public Works Department manages the Active Transportation program. This program works on developing infrastructure and initiatives to encourage residents to walk, bike, or roll instead of using motor vehicles.

The Gold-level award highlights Corvallis’ efforts to improve conditions for cyclists. This includes investments in education and infrastructure, hosting biking events, and implementing public policies that support active transportation. Lindsey Almarode, Active Transportation Specialist for the City, confirmed the city’s ongoing commitment to enhancing biking support in Corvallis.
