Valor Christian alum Raegan Beers helps No. 17 Oregon State take down No. 4 Colorado

BOULDER — Raegan Beers couldn’t have asked for a better first collegiate game back in her home state.

With a few dozen family and friends serving as her own personal cheering section, the star sophomore for Oregon State and former 5-star recruit out of Valor Christian led the Beavers to a 65-59 win over No. 4 Colorado on Sunday afternoon in a building that she grew up going to games at.

“It was so much fun,” Beers said. “It’s weird, you grow up watching from those bleachers for so many years. I started watching the Pac-12 when I was in eighth grade or (my) freshman year of high school. It was a fun switch and obviously to have that hometown little fan base that I had behind our bench, it was amazing.”

After earning Pac-12 freshman of the year and sixth player of the year honors in her first season with the Beavers, Beers has taken her game to another level as a sophomore and should be in contention for Pac-12 player of the season, averaging 18.5 points and 11 rebounds for an OSU team that has now won five straight games (four of which have come against ranked opponents) to put itself in contention to win the regular season title.
