Woodburn Police make arrests connected to shooting

Woodburn Police have taken two juveniles into custody following an investigation of a Feb. 9 shooting that took place in the 7-Eleven parking lot on Pacific Hwy. 99E.

On Feb. 9 police responded to the scene at about 10 p.m., where they discovered a juvenile victim who had suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen. That victim was transported to a hospital and is in stable condition.

Police spokesman Tommy Moore said a subsequent investigation revealed the shooting occurred during an altercation between two groups of juveniles. That investigation led to the identification of two juvenile male suspects. As of Tuesday, Feb. 13, both suspects were safely taken into custody and are being held at the Marion County Juvenile Detention Center.

The names of juvenile suspects are not publicly released.

The first suspect, age 11, is changed with attempted murder, assault, attempted assault, unlawful use of a weapon.

The second suspect, age 15, is charged with conspiracy, two counts of attempted murder, assault, attempted assault.
