The Capital City Youth Committee invites Mid-Willamette Valley teenagers to the ILEAD Youth Leadership Summit. The event is scheduled for Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the Knudson Branch of the Boys & Girls of Salem, Marion, and Polk Counties. The summit offers workshops on college and career readiness, financial literacy, health and well-being, and leadership development. It is free for all high school-aged teens in the region.

The summit includes presenters from Oregon State University, Oregon Native American Education Foundation, Goodwill Industries, Salem Health, Western Oregon University, and South Salem High School. The goal is to prepare participants for life post-high school.

A nine-person teen committee selected the workshop content. The aim is to help peers navigate the changes that come with growing up. Topics include personal finances, starting a business or going to college, mental and physical health, identifying strengths and interests, and setting goals.

Teens from Marion, Polk, and Linn counties can attend the summit. Registration closes on Thursday, February 29, 2024. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. and includes meals, games, giveaways, a DJ, and a T-shirt for all participants.
