Salem man sentenced to 25 years in 2021 child sex abuse case

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) – A man found guilty of sexually abusing an 8-year-old child was sentenced to 25 years in prison, the Polk County District Attorney announced Friday.

A judge ruled that Markis Arryon Alexander McConnico, 28, of Salem was guilty of one count of first-degree sexual abuse and one count of first-degree sodomy for incidents that happened in 2021.

He will serve 300 months in prison without eligibility for early release and will also be required to serve a lifetime of post-prison supervision. When he is released, he will need to register as a sex offender.
