Serious crash causes outages, road closure north of Salem

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — A serious crash north of Salem has closed a road and knocked out power in the area, authorities said.

According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened early Tuesday on River Road Northeast near Waconda Road Northeast.

Portland General Electric responded to the scene and officials said they are working to repair power poles which could keep the road closed for several hours.

The PGE outage map shows over 100 customers are without power in the area, although that number was over 300 earlier in the morning.
