LINN COUNTY, Ore. — A tragic accident on Wednesday evening, July 3, 2024, resulted in the death of a 12-year-old boy and serious injuries to two others. The crash occurred at approximately 6:17 p.m. on Highway 20, near milepost 21, involving two Dodge Ram trucks.

Preliminary investigations by the Oregon State Police revealed that a westbound gray Dodge Ram 1500, driven by Scott Turner, 52, of Sweet Home, inexplicably crossed several lanes and collided head-on with an eastbound blue Dodge Ram 2500, operated by William Drager, 34, also of Sweet Home. The force of the impact caused significant damage to both vehicles, and the gray Dodge Ram 1500 was engulfed in flames shortly after the collision.

Turner was extricated from the burning vehicle and rushed to a local hospital with severe injuries. Tragically, a 12-year-old male passenger in Turner’s vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
