Excessive Heat Warnings and Watches Issued for July 4-9 for Oregon/Washington State

SALEM, OR — The National Weather Service has issued excessive heat warnings and watches for portions of central and western Oregon and Washington from Thursday afternoon, July 4, through Tuesday, July 9. Temperatures are expected to soar up to 103 degrees, posing significant health risks.

The extreme heat will affect much of the region, leading to a substantial increase in heat-related illnesses. Authorities are urging residents to take necessary precautions to stay safe during this period.

Personal safety measures include:

  • Drinking plenty of fluids
  • Staying in air-conditioned rooms
  • Avoiding direct sunlight
  • Checking on relatives and neighbors
  • Never leaving young children and pets in unattended vehicles, as car interiors can reach lethal temperatures within minutes

Residents are advised to monitor local news (TV, internet, radio) for the latest forecasts and updates on heat warnings.
