19-year-old Stayton teen arrested in Salem shooting

Salem Police said Wednesday that a 19-year-old Stayton man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a late June shooting in downtown and is being held in the Marion County Jail.

Officers responded June 29 at about 9:20 p.m. to a report of a juvenile with a gunshot wound, according to a news release.

Officers found a 16-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to the neck in the 400 block of Mill Street SE and provided medical aid until paramedics arrived to transport him to a hospital.

The man arrested Tuesday was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Marion County on charges of attempted murder, assault in the first degree and unlawful use of a weapon.
