Police arrest man accused of lighting fires in Dallas liquor store

Dallas Police said they arrested a 55-year-old man who is accused of breaking into a liquor store after it was closed Thursday night and lighting multiple fires inside.

At 10:51 p.m., a man broke into Dallas Liquor at 170 W Ellendale Ave., damaged property and became combative with first responders, according to a news release. He was later treated for minor injuries.

Police arrested the man on charges of arson, burglary, criminal mischief and unlawful use of a weapon, as well as 16 counts of attempted assault and reckless endangerment. He was being held in Polk County Jail as of Friday afternoon.

The case remained under investigation Friday.

Dallas Fire and EMS remained on scene for fire watch.
