Oregon Hunters Association will hold youths outdoor skills day in Dundee

The Yamhill Chapter of the Oregon Hunters Association is giving youngsters an opportunity to flex their outdoor muscles during an event set for next week in Dundee.

The OHA will hold its annual youth outdoor skills day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 17 at the Newberg Rod and Gun Club, paradoxically located at 21086 Highway 99W, southwest of Dundee.

“OHA’s youth days offer kids a chance to sharpen their outdoor skills and learn new ones,” a release from the OHA said. “Opportunities typically include such offerings as archery, clay shooting, small bore rifle shooting and wildlife identification. Demonstrations in such disciplines as black powder rifle shooting are often offered as well.”

Typically, the release continued, the OHA youth events will feature food prepped by OHA chapter volunteers and drawings for prizes donated by local merchants.
