Candidates for secretary of state, attorney general, treasurer

Three of Oregon’s top statewide offices will be on November’s general election ballot: Oregon attorney general, secretary of state and treasurer.

Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum announced last year that she would not seek a fourth term, term limits bar Treasurer Tobias Read from seeking reelection and LaVonne Griffin-Valade was appointed last year for the remainder of former Secretary of State Shemia Fagan’s term after she resigned during an ethics investigation.

These are the candidates for each of the races, listed alphabetically.

Will Lathrop

Will Lathrop , 46, of Newberg, graduated from Willamette University’s College of Law and previously worked as a deputy district attorney in Marion and Yamhill counties for nine years. He and his wife have one child. In Marion County, Lathrop was chair of the Sex Offender Protocol Board and served on the Oregon District Attorney Association’s legislative committee. He worked for the nonprofit human rights agency International Justice Mission , leading the Northern Uganda office and an anti-human trafficking operation in Ghana.
