A considerable addition to the inventory of motel rooms in Newberg is a few months away from reaching fruition.
Construction on the Fairfield Inn by Marriott near the intersection of Highway 99W and Brutscher Street is projected to be completed by January 2025.
The four-story inn will feature 79 rooms that include eight king suites, 39 double queen rooms, 32 king rooms and six connecting suites, as well as a number of handicap accessible suites and rooms, an outdoor heated pool, gas fire pits, wine bar, lounge areas, a fitness room with “hydro stations,” four electric vehicle charging stations and The Market, a 24/7 food and beverage pantry.
The project, initiated in December 2021 by the Hawkins Companies of Boise and carried through by Cannon Beach-based Escape Lodging Company, is on a two-acre parcel of land zoned by the city as within a community commercial district. The development was approved by the city in September 2022 and construction began in September 2023. The general contractor on the project is PDG Construction, a Lake Oswego company.
