Jade Carey Makes Major Decision on Gymnastics Career

Jade Carey, along with Simone Biles, Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles and Hezly Rivera, helped the women’s national gymnastics team win gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Carey also won bronze during the individual vault final.

The two-time Olympian returned home from Paris tied with Aly Raisman as the fifth most-decorated female gymnast in U.S. history. The 24-year-old, who’s currently traveling the nation on Biles’ “Gold Over America Tour,” already announced her plan to return to Oregon State University to compete on the Beavers gymnastics team for her senior year.

However, Carey is looking beyond her final season at OSU, and announced a major decision regarding the next year’s World Championships.

In an interview published on September 23, she told Olympics reporter Scott Bergman that she doesn’t plan to compete at the 2025 World Championships in Indonesia. “I think I just want to take the year to kind of come down a little bit,” Carey said.

Carey, who has seven World Championship medals under her belt, also admitted she struggles with taking time off. “I’m really excited for this season in college,” she continued. “I think probably in the beginning, I’ll take it a little bit slow so I have a little bit of downtime. But you never know with me.”
