Bulky Waste Day returns to Wilsonville for fall

If you have an unusual item you need to dispose of, you may be interested in Bulky Waste Day.

The event, hosted by the city of Wilsonville and Republic Services, will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5 at the Republic Services Wilsonville location. It is held twice a year to allow Wilsonville residents to dispose of large or unusual items that cannot be picked up at the curb.

According to the city’s website, accepted items include dishwashers, televisions, refrigerators, computer monitors, stoves, dryers, water heaters, couches, mattresses, scrap metal, tables and chairs and untreated wood. Fuel and oils must be emptied from lawn mowers and other equipment powered by gas.

Items that are not accepted include construction debris, propane bottles, paint, batteries, solvents, thinners, household garbage, car tires or yard debris.

To participate, community members must show proof of Wilsonville residence. There is no charge, but residents are asked to donate to local nonprofit and food bank Wilsonville Community Sharing. Donations will be collected on site.
