Wildfire restrictions drop as danger levels fall in Willamette, Siuslaw forests

Willamette and Siuslaw national forests rescinded public-use restrictions Wednesday due to a reduction in fire danger levels, according to the U.S. Forest Service.

The fire danger level was lowered to “moderate” and “low” for the Willamette and Siuslaw national forests, respectively.

Campfires are now allowed outside developed campgrounds. Campfires should not be left unattended and must be completely extinguished.

Restrictions on chainsaws, off-highway vehicles and smoking will be lifted.

In the Willamette National Forest, there are still closures in place for some areas due to active wildfires and emergency response work. For updates on the Willamette National Forest go to: fs.usda.gov/alerts/willamette/alerts-notices .

As of Tuesday afternoon, there were no active closures for fire or fire-related activities on the Siuslaw National Forest.
