Park projects, ideas are popping in Canby

Parks are popping in Canby, with the potential of more to come.

Canby Mayor Brian Hodson’s excitement and enthusiasm for what the Parks Advisory Board has been working on, and seen to completion, is palpable.

“Our Parks Advisory Board has just been on fire with ideas over the last couple of years,” Hodson said. “It has been really great to see some of those things come to fruition.”

The latest dream given form was a fitness court at Legacy Park. Constructed with all-weather materials and padding, the park has various pieces of equipment to use and features a QR code visitors can scan to help tailor a workout based on the equipment and space available.

It’s all-weather, it’s unique and it’s high tech, too.

“What a great addition this is,” Hodson said. “They just completed it last week.”

But wait, there’s more.

At Maple Street Park, all the necessary all-weather turf has been installed and Hodson said there are still enhancements to come, including netting to wrangle foul balls and the prospect of lighting going in for later evening games or maybe adult softball.
