Get fired up for the Woodburn Fire District’s safety fair this weekend

Ignite your weekend plans: On Saturday, Oct. 5, the Woodburn Fire District will host its annual open house and safety fair.

The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Woodburn Fire Department building at 1776 Newberg Highway.

“We do it every year, and it’s just a super fun event. The community really enjoys it,” said Korrin Petersen, Woodburn Fire District finance officer.

At the fair, there are events for children of all ages, including a ride on the antique fire truck. Fair participants can also spray a fire hose and put out simulated fires, along with hands-on fire displays and demonstrations by fire department staff.

Local vendors geared towards safety and community service will also be present with booths at the event, including the Marion County Sheriff and Woodburn School District. The Bikers Against Child Abuse will also make an appearance at this annual event with their Harleys, a favorite amongst the younger crowd.

Children at the event will also be able to participate in a scavenger hunt, with the opportunity to enter for prize giveaways from the vendors at the fair. There will also be a bike helmet giveaway at the event.
