Construction completed at La Morenita Tortillas’ new bakery facility

New developments are popping up in Woodburn every day, but the latest project hits close to home.

La Morenita Tortillas, a locally owned business, has completed construction on its new tortilla factory. Located at 2400 N. Pacific Highway, the 44,400-square-foot commercial tortilla bakery will help the company expand production.

The project officially closed this week, according to Woodburn planner Dan Handel.

“I’m really excited about the project,” Handel said. “It was a great project to work on, they are wonderful folks and it’s a local business which is great.”

La Morenita Tortillas is a family-owned business best known for its wholesale homemade tortillas, which the bakery distributes throughout Oregon. In Woodburn, La Morenita is also known for its Mexican food, which is cooked and sold out of its downtown storefront.

While the business has expanded, La Morenita will predominantly use the new factory for production and will keep the downtown location open.

“They’ve been around for a while,” Handel said. “They filled out this small space downtown, and it’s now bursting at the seams, so it’s exciting to see them have such a substantial expansion here in town.”
