Do you have environmentally-conscious stormwater practices? The city of Wilsonville may give you an award for that next year.
In 2025 Wilsonville will begin an annual Stormwater Stewards Recognition Program that recognizes local businesses and individuals “who have been exceptional in the management of stormwater facilities on private property,” according to the city newsletter.
Stormwater includes rainwater and snowmelt, and “Stormwater Stewards” will be acknowledged for good management of such in residential, commercial and industrial categories.
“Effective stormwater management can be employed where impervious surfaces currently exist and are projected to grow in the future,” the newsletter wrote. “Wilsonville’s Stormwater Stewards take proactive steps and use best management practices to prevent downstream pollution, reduce flooding, and enhance ecosystem health.”
The newsletter said the city of Wilsonville primarily depends on property owners to do facility maintenance required by the National Pollution Discharge Elimination System when a porous landscape is developed into an impervious surface like a parking lot.
