Woodburn locals’ four-legged friends now have a new pooch park.
The city of Woodburn announced this week that the newly remodeled Centennial Park dog park is now open.
Centennial Park is located on Parr Road in south Woodburn, next to Valor Middle School and Heritage Elementary School. The city has been updating the dog park for the past year after receiving a $75,000 local government grant from Oregon State Parks in 2023.
The park’s improvements include a new sheltered area, irrigation system, dog play features, walking path, seating, drinking fountains and landscaping. The city also installed new solar lights to increase the park’s usability during the evening.
The city anticipates the remodel will attract an influx of dog owners and their pets and believes the park’s new features and landscape will increase its capacity.
“I think some of the improvements are great. We really like the agility equipment and the path,” said resident Jessica Richter. “I think for accessibility that’s going to be really nice because there’s a lot of elderly visitors at the park.”
