Like residents, the city has its resolutions for the new year.
As 2025 rolls in, Woodburn Mayor Frank Lonergan reflects on the city’s successes and challenges of 2024 while outlining priorities for the year ahead.
In the past year, Woodburn has had a local election and seen numerous new business and housing developments around town as the city’s population continues to grow.
“I’m honored that I was elected mayor again, and am excited for the upcoming year,” said Lonergan. “We also have two new councilors, so to start off the year we will be having a meeting and goal setting session to come up with more future plans.”
While the city council has not yet set official goals for the city in 2025, Lonergan still has a list of what Woodburn’s residents can look forward to in the new year.
One of the primary things on Lonergan’s and many others’ minds is the new Amazon facility.
“I’m excited that Amazon’s moving in soon and will start going forward with their plan of hiring and opening up in the spring,” Lonergan said. “It will help economic development and create a lot of jobs in the community.”
