Marion County grand jury finds Oregon State Police trooper’s use of deadly force in February shooting near Salem air station justified

SALEM, Ore. — A Marion County grand jury has unanimously ruled that an Oregon State Police trooper was justified in using deadly force against a 22-year-old man last month.

Senior Trooper Justin Oxenrider shot and killed Matthew Wong on Feb. 27 after Wong allegedly threatened officers with a knife outside the National Guard Air Station in Salem, according to testimony presented to the grand jury.
