PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — An Albany Police Department K9 and an Albany Police drone operator helped track down a burglary suspect who escaped into a thicket of brush in the Brownsville area on March 22.
The Linn County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to an in-home burglary at about 10:30 p.m. A sheriff’s deputy arrived on scene and attempted to arrest a man suspected of burglarizing the home. The suspect allegedly resisted arrest and fired a gun during a struggle to avoid capture. The suspect then fled into the nearby brush. A woman suspected of burglarizing the home was arrested without incident.

Linn County Sheriff’s Deputies established a search perimeter and asked Albany police for help locating the man. K9 Mando and the Albany Police drone officer were called to the scene.
“The K9 track led outside the initial perimeter and into a nearby field where K9 Mando located a discarded flashlight and handgun,” the Albany Police Department said. “Based on the direction of the K9 track, a new perimeter was established.”
