Two-alarm fire destroys southeast Salem home; resident and dog escape unharmed

SALEM, Ore. — A two-alarm fire early Monday morning destroyed a home in southeast Salem and displaced a resident and their dog, according to the Salem Fire Department.

Fire crews responded to reports of a fire at a home located on Ratcliff Drive at around 3:59 a.m. Following reports of visible flames and concerns that an occupant and a dog were still inside, officials said in a news release.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire at the back of the home. Crews began suppression efforts and established command on the scene. Battalion Chief 4 later assumed command and directed an offensive fire attack, according to fire officials…
