🐇EASTER WEEKEND

Good morning! Happy weekend!

We wrapped up the workweek with an observed high temperature of 79°! This means Friday was the sixth consecutive day of 70°+. However, it’s time to go back to “normal” with temperatures floating in the upper 50s and low 60s all weekend.

Weak offshore flow is bringing cooler air and a chance for a light shower early this Saturday morning. Rain chances begin to drop around 8 a.m., with increasing sunshine by the late morning and early afternoon. I hardly think we’ll have measurable rain today, so any outdoor plans are a go! Forecast highs are in the 60s.

Sunday will be cloudy for a majority of the day. A passing, stray drizzle can’t be ruled out at any point, but we don’t anticipate any heavy rain. Bring a light jacket for outdoor Easter activities. From Sunday through Monday morning, the maximum amount of rain we’ll pick up is ~0.10-0.15″. Any areas south of Salem will be mainly dry with less cloud coverage. High temperatures are forecast to be in the mid to upper 50s.

MONDAY

On and off drizzle continues into Monday, but similar to Sunday, we don’t foresee this being something to write home about. Highs will be in the upper 50s and low 60s under mostly cloudy skies.

TUESDAY – THURSDAY

We’re tracking improving conditions in the middle of next week with more sunshine and above-normal temperatures. I don’t think we’ll get as warm as last week, but we may have a couple days in the low 70s. Clouds increase Thursday ahead of our next system. There is no frost/freeze concerns next week.

FRIDAY

Our next best shower chance is late next week. Most models agree with the arrival time of Friday morning, but lots can change from now until then. Similar to most of the rain this week, this system doesn’t have a ton of strength. I don’t see any “washout” days in the 7 day forecast.

🤧SPRING ALLERGIES

Tree pollen has skyrocketed the past week thanks to the sunshine and breezy conditions. According to Oregon Allergy Associates, tree pollen counts were around 200-250 last week, peaked around 600 early this week, and have now dropped slightly.

Cottonwoods are the most dominant, but they also observed Alder, Ash, Birch, Douglas Fir, Elm, Hornbeam, Juniper, Maple and Willow. Grass and ragweed pollen are absent. With little rain expected, these levels will remain high for several days…
