Oregon state Sen. Aaron Woods dies

Oregon state Sen. Aaron Woods, D-Wilsonville, died Saturday, April 19. The Oregon Capital Chronicle reported that Woods was being treated for cancer, which promoted his removal from Senate committees earlier this month.

Woods, a U.S. Army veteran and retired tech executive, died while surrounded by family, according to a press release. He is survived by five adult children and was predeceased by his wife, Shirley. Woods was 75 years old, as reported by Oregon Capital Chronicle.

Woods was a longtime resident of Wilsonville and represented the city as well as King City, Sherwood, Tigard, southeast Beaverton and Yamhill County after joining the Oregon Senate in January 2023.
