Utah man seriously injured after jumping off waterfall in Marion County

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man from Utah was seriously injured earlier this week after jumping 90 feet from the top of Abiqua Falls near Scotts Mills, according to authorities.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office says dispatchers received two text-to-911 messages asking for help for an injured person who had jumped from the top of the falls just after 7:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Silverton Fire crews were the first to arrive on the scene, where they immediately requested extra support from other agencies, including the sheriff’s search and rescue team and the Salem Fire Rope Team, according to the sheriff’s office.
