LBCC’s Weld & Dine Sparks Community Interest

Linn-Benton Community College’s Welding Industrial Technical Society (ITS) and the Culinary Co-Curricular Club teamed up for a successful evening of food and fun at their second “Weld & Dine” event, held Friday, May 23, on the Albany campus. With a full house of participants, the event gave community members the chance to try welding firsthand with guidance from LBCC welding students — followed by a delicious meal prepared by culinary students.

Guests created metal flower yard ornaments during the hands-on welding session, with many discovering a new appreciation for the craft.

“I thought it was a really good experience,” said participant Apryl Mar. “It was harder than I thought, but I was thankful for my student helper and welcomed the challenge.”…
