FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAYS: SUNDAY & MONDAY

Today and Monday are First Alert Weather Days. We have the opportunity to break daily records as highs soar into the 90s. Most of our area is under a Moderate HeatRisk, meaning the hot weather could affect individuals sensitive to heat, especially those without cooling and/or hydration. Heat Advisories are active starting at 10 this morning and last through Monday evening. This does not include the Coast or Cascades.

We were just a few degrees shy of 90° at PDX Saturday! Highs topped out in the mid to upper 80s. Temperatures have been WARM overnight. At last check, we’re still in the mid-60s with less than an hour until sunrise. I expect the same thing to happen tonight.

Today will be our first 90+ degree day of the year as an upper-level ridge of high pressure is centered over the western U.S. Sunday will be warmest with highs in the mid-90s, and Monday highs will be in the low-90s.

First Alert Weather Days are active due to the unusually hot afternoons. We are expected to break a daily record high temperature set in 1955 today at PDX. Daily record highs in Salem are in jeopardy as well. We still hang onto the 90s Monday with afternoon highs forecast just a couple degrees shy of the daily record for June 9…
