Corvallis locals uneasy after close encounter with cougar

CORVALLIS, Ore. (KPTV) – Members of a northwest Corvallis neighborhood say it’s common to see deer and other wildlife in the area.

However, when those sightings brought a cougar into the community Thursday afternoon, it brought up a new and uneasy conversation.

The calls to the Corvallis Police Department and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife began at approximately 12:49 p.m. when long-time residents, Irina and Vladek, spotted a juvenile male cougar under their porch with the remains of a deer.

“My gaze went farther to the porch and then I saw these huge paws, my heart stopped,” Irina said…
