Rescue teams save two men stranded on submerged drift boat in Santiam River

MILL CITY, Ore. (KATU) — It was a team effort on Friday on the Santiam River near Mill City as two men were successfully rescued without any injuries.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol, along with four fire departments, all responded around 3 p.m. Friday to multiple 9-1-1 calls about a man stranded on the rocks.

When the crews arrived, they found two men standing on the bow of a submerged drift boat, pinned between rocks at the top edge of the falls.

Rescue crews were able to deploy two rafts below the waterfall to safely bring them off the boat and nearby rocks to safety…
